Devgame

Online incremental dev company simulator

The dungeon is a Git graph. The backlog is the enemy.

You work on a project that never ends. Every sprint brings tickets, every ticket story points, every commit a choice: by hand, slow and safe, or by the machine, three times faster and in debt. The review reads what nobody read, production counts what breaks, and the features you ship pay for the team that helps you hold on.

Free, no account to start, nothing to install.

Craft commit

One story point, expensive in energy, but it almost always lands and it leaves nothing behind.

AI commit

Three story points for a single point of energy, a worse roll, debt every time — and unread, a bug waiting for the review or for production.

The review decides

Points full, the ticket goes to review. It catches unread machine commits, refuses a debt too high, and flags what will need fixing. Accepted, you are the one who presses merge.

The company grows

Every shipped feature earns monthly revenue. It pays for servers, sites, acquisitions and developers who take the backlog off your hands — and the company climbs orders of magnitude, up to the Death Star.

How it works

  1. 01

Open a ticket from the project board and fill its story points, one commit at a time. Every card shows its odds, cost, points and debt before you click.

  2. 02

Review, refactor what cost debt, fix what the review flagged, then merge. A refused ticket opens the next one from the backlog beside it: the sprint does not wait.

  3. 03

Hold on for as many sprints as you can. The backlog grows, customers' bugs have a deadline, competitors grow, someone asks questions, and the run ends in burnout or when production fires you.

Two ways to lose

Burnout is the end of the player holding too much at once: no energy left, and a board too crowded to take a breath. Getting fired is the end of the player too slow or too dirty: bugs in production, refused pull requests and tickets left waiting wear production's patience down. A clean sprint brings it back up. Nothing is hidden: both gauges are on screen the whole time.

Daily seed

In daily seed mode everyone plays the same map, every UTC day. A run is its seed and the list of its actions, and the server replays it to verify the score.

Today's board

What this is, and what it is not

A personal project: free, open source, no advertising, no tracking. Scores are verified by replaying the run on the server, so the leaderboard means something. The game runs offline in your browser; an account only exists to carry your progress to another machine and to put you on the board. The balance is measured on hundreds of simulated runs, not guessed.

Contribute

The code is public and the game is built in the open: a bug, an idea, a rule that feels wrong, a translation, a pull request — everything goes through the repository, and a message is welcome too.

Support the project

Free, no ads, no tracking, and it will stay that way. Nothing is asked for; but if the game gave you a good hour, a coffee is a very nice way to say so, and it makes my next evening on it a happier one.
